Outline

This two day Multi-Agency training will equip practitioners to address safeguarding concerns in their work with children and young people.

Description

This is a two day course aiming to raise awareness of child protection procedures, which is Multi Agency; for all agencies in child care, early year’s settings, child health and mental health.
Participants will be provided with knowledge to enable them to undertake the safeguarding role within their workplace.

A Paediatrician, Social Worker and a representative from Dorset Police are contributors to this training.

Outcomes

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an in depth understanding of what to do when there are concerns about a child’s welfare in complex and challenging situations.
  • Demonstrate skills in managing exits from the safeguarding process in a manner that promotes the long term welfare of the child/young person.
  • Demonstrate a highly developed awareness of their own roles and responsibilities and those of others in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children through the assessment, planning and intervention and review process.
  • Describe and be able to advise others on when and how to share information on a child about whom they have concerns in accordance with local protocols and procedures.
  • Develop strategies for overcoming blocks to effective inter agency working.
  • Demonstrate skills in communicating effectively with children, families and fellow practitioners.
  • Help others analyse and evaluate concerns, information and assessments when contributing to inter agency judgements and decision making.

Confirmation and course documents will come from CPD on-line. Please do not attend unless you have received this confirmation. Your course certificate will be sent to you via E mail from Nexus about two weeks after the course.

Lunch is not provided on this course so please bring your own as there are no facilities at the venue.

Tea & coffee will be provided on arrival and during morning & afternoon breaks. However, stocks are limited, so any further refreshments at lunchtime (drinks etc) must be purchased directly from the venue. Thank you.
